Harvest Progress Continues to Surpass 5-Year Average
USAgNet - 10/26/2021
Despite widespread precipitation last week, harvest of corn and soybeans continued to run ahead of the five-year average for 18 selected states.
Sixty-six percent of corn was harvested, compared to a 53% average, according to today's U.S. Department of Agriculture's Crop Progress Report, and the trend also held true for soybeans, although not as strongly.
For the week ending Oct. 24, 73% of soybeans had been harvested versus a five-year average of 70%.
Two of the top-producing states actually fell behind the harvest average for soybeans.
Illinois had harvested 68% of its beans compared to a 77% average, while Indiana had harvested 63% compared to 72%.
As for winter wheat, meanwhile, planting progress matched the average at 80% for 18 selected states, and crop condition was better than last year's crop at 46% good/excellent compared to 40% one year ago.
