NYS Soil Moisture Levels Dropping

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New York, there were 5.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 12 percent very short, 25 percent short, 60 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 7 percent very short, 22 percent short, 71 percent adequate, and 0 percent surplus.

Pasture conditions ranged from 5 percent very poor, 21 percent poor, 35 percent fair, 35 percent good, and 4 percent excellent.

Barley harvested for grain advanced to 85 percent, near the five-year average. Corn harvested for silage was 15 percent, double the five-year average of 8 percent. oats harvested for grain was 83 percent.
