New York Ag Connection - 10/18/2017

The fall meeting of the New York Nut Growers Association will take place in Stamford on Oct. 28. The group will take a tour of the Michael Kudish Natural History Preserve in the morning. The tour leaders will talk about this beautiful natural preserve in Delaware County, and about proper thinning around nut trees to help them stay healthy and grow faster.

In the afternoon, the group will have talks on a Web Soil Survey to determine the suitability of planting nut and fruit trees; the nutritional and health value of nuts; on-going NYNGA projects; a preview of the Watershed Ag Council's new website, "My Woodlot"; and post-harvest procedures for nuts. The group will also have a sample tasting and discussion of this season's nut crops.
