NYS Soybean Harvest Outpacing Average

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New York, there were 4.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 0 percent very short, 0 percent short, 34 percent adequate, and 66 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 0 percent very short, 1 percent short, 57 percent adequate, and 42 percent surplus.

Corn harvested for grain was 9 percent complete, far behind last year at 22 percent and the 5-year average of 23 percent. Corn harvested for silage was 91 percent complete, far ahead of last year's 76 percent and the 5-year average of 77 percent complete by this time.

Soybeans harvested was 58 percent complete, slightly ahead of 2020's pace of 57 percent and ahead of the 5-year average of 46 percent.

Winter wheat planted was 78 percent last week, behind last year at 85 percent and the 5-year average of 84 percent. Winter wheat emerged was 48 percent, compared to 56 percent last year and the 5-year average of 51 percent.
