NYS Harvest Later Than Usual for Many Crops

New York averaged 4.0 days suitable for field work.

Temperatures ranged from 1 degree above normal to 6 degrees below normal. Weekly precipitation ranged from 0 to 1.95 inches. Fall harvest has been later than usual for many crops.

Bean quality has been a concern. Corn and soybean harvest began to wrap up with most of the crop complete in many areas. There were still some soybeans to harvest and corn moved along; although, many areas experienced wet conditions. Some operations reported high variance among corn and beans in the same location.

The vineyard growing season ended for Long Island and crews prepared for winter.
