New York State Farmers Push Ahead on Harvest
New York Ag Connection - 12/03/2019

For the week ending Sunday, the USDA National Ag Statistics Service issued its extended weekly crop and weather report with comments by county reporters, who are from Extension Service (Ext), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Farm Service Agency (FSA)., Conservation District (CD), farmers, commodity specialists, or other knowledgeable individuals.

Cayuga County; Colleen Cargile: Many acres of corn and soybeans were harvested this week. Most of the soybeans have been harvested, I see very few acres standing. A lot of progress has been made on corn harvest; there are a lot less acres standing than there were last week.Unfortunately; we are currently getting quite a bit of snow, which will bring harvest to a halt for at least a few days.

Genesee/Niagara/Orleans Counties; Nathan R Herendeen: Several days and half days allowed more corn and soy harvest. Soils still very wet. Plenty of soils damaged from harvest this fall.

Livingston County; Dean R Pendergast: Corn harvest continues but little progress was made on remaining soybeans.

Ontario County; Joann Rogers: Ontario County continues with corn and soybean harvest; reports of corn not drying down and need to be dried. Later in the week, we had a wind advisory resulting in some corn bent over, followed by ice and snow that is now delaying harvest.
