New Yorkers Inching Towards Harvest Completion

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New York, there were 4.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 2 percent very short, 13 percent short, 74 percent adequate, and 11 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 7 percent very short, 7 percent short, 68 percent adequate, and 18 percent surplus.

Corn harvested for grain was reported 90 percent complete, while the soybean harvest was at 80 percent.

Fourth cutting of alfalfa hay was 81 percent complete, and fourth cutting of other hay was reported at 82 percent.

Winter wheat planting was nearing completion at 93 percent while 87 percent of wheat already planted has emerged.
