NYS Farmers Start Cabbage Planting Season

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New York, there were 4.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday. Topsoil moisture supplies were 0 percent very short, 0 percent short, 65 percent adequate, and 35 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 0 percent very short, 1 percent short, 60 percent adequate, and 39 percent surplus.

Pasture conditions ranged from 1 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 36 percent fair, 43 percent good, and 17 percent excellent.

Winter wheat condition rangged from 0 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 35 percent fair, 36 percent good, and 25 percent excellent.

Farmers reported 6 percent of cabbage planted, 23 percent of onions dry planted and 36 percecnt of potatoes planted.

Barley planted reached 42 percent and Oats at 51 percent planted, while corn planted stood at 16 percent and soybeans at 5 percent planted.
