State Soybean Planting Keeps Pace with 5-Year Average

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New York, there were 6.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday. Topsoil moisture supplies were 0 percent very short, 5 percent short, 69 percent adequate, and 26 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 0 percent very short, 1 percent short, 69 percent adequate, and 30 percent surplus.

Pasture conditions ranged from 0 percent very poor, 1 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 48 percent good, and 24 percent excellent.

Barley planted reached 56 percent, while emerged was at 28 percent.

Cabbage planted hit 16 percent, 10 perentage points above last week, but behind the five-year average of 23 percent.

Corn planted was 33 percent, compared to 13 percent last year but 45 percent for the five-year average. Emerged was 9 percent.

oats planted was 68 percent and emerged stood at 25 percent.

New York soybeans planted hit 23 percent, well ahead of 2019's 6 percent for the same period and about equal to the five-year verage of 22 percent.
