New York Ag Connection - 06/13/2017

New York averaged 4.5 days suitable for field work last week.

Crop conditions improved slightly over the prior week while many operations continued to deal with overly wet fields and make inquiries regarding prevented planting claims.

The average weekly temperatures ranged from 8 degrees below to 2 degrees above normal. Weekly precipitation ranged from 0.09 to 2.70 inches. Some progress was made tilling and planting in some areas and increased soil temperature was reported.

Overall, weather varied with extremes with increased warmth in areas and heavy rains.

Hay crop silage proceeded as some fields began to finally dry out and operations worked around wet, rutted areas.
