New York Strawberries Nearing Harvest Time
New York Ag Connection - 06/12/2018

New York averaged 5.5 days suitable for field work.

Temperatures ranged from 1 degree to 8 degrees below normal. Weekly precipitation ranged from 0.02 to 1.54 inches. Field conditions were dryer this past week in many areas and slightly cooler. Only a few places reported heavy thundershowers and wet conditions.

Corn was reported as almost completely planted and soybeans were being planted. Emergence has been problematic in a few areas but reports on small grains and crops have been generally positive.

Producers also made significant progress on alfalfa.

Strawberries were near harvest and blooms on Long Island vineyards were just about to begin as crews tended to wires to hold shoots upright.
