New York Farmers Get Nearly Perfect Week for Fieldwork

New York averaged 6.5 days suitable for field work.

Temperatures ranged from 5 degrees below normal to 3 degrees above normal. Weekly precipitation ranged from 0.00 to 2.41 inches. Conditions varied throughout many parts of the state with some getting rain and others concerned about dry conditions.

A lot of dry hay was made with most of the first cutting in; however, some areas were having issues with hay coming back due to a lack of moisture.

Most crops were planted and emergence appeared good.

Strawberries were reported as having a good harvest with good quality and Long Island vineyards were in full bloom.
