Comment on Oral Vaccination to Control Specific Rabies Variants
New York Ag Connection - 07/09/2019

Wildlife Services (WS), a program within the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Plant and Animal Health Inspection Service, in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service, has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) "Oral Vaccination to Control Specific Rabies Virus Variants with Human Adenovirus Type 5 Vector in Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia."

The EA analyzes the potential environmental impacts of the alternatives for WS' involvement in an oral rabies vaccination (ORV) program in the above mentioned states and portions of the U.S. Forest Service National Forest System lands. The program's primary goals are to stop the spread of specific rabies virus variants.

WS is requesting that the public review and provide their comments on the pre-decision EA. We anticipate that a Notice of Availability will be published in the Federal Register on July 09, 2019. At that time interested parties may obtain a copy of the EA and submit comments by going to www.regulations.gov/docket?D=APHIS-2019-0034 or by contacting: USDA APHIS Wildlife Services, 59 Chenell Drive, Suite 2, Concord, NH 03301, FAX (603) 229-0502.

WS requests that all comments on the EA be submitted electronically or sent to the address/FAX listed above by Aug. 8. When faxing a comment, a copy should also be mailed to ensure that a complete version of the text is received. All comments received, including the names and addresses of those who comment, will be part of the public record and will be released for public review as required and allowable by law.
