Another 47,500 Gallons of Milk to Keystone, Empire Families

Milk distributions continue across the region to provide families with safe, wholesome milk, thanks to American Dairy Association North East's (ADA North East) collaboration with local dairy processors, cooperatives and community groups.

Dairy farmers Dean and Bonnie Kind of Slippery Rock, Pa., volunteered at the event in Greensburg where they helped distribute 1,500 gallons from Schneider's Dairy. The Kinds sell their milk to Schneiders.

"In this turbulent time, it has been very uplifting and empowering to see people in the community coming together to serve those who need it, and we're happy to be a part of this event," said Kind.

Dean was also interviewed by local Pittsburgh media while at the event.

More than 18,000 gallons of milk were distributed in Pennsylvania this week with other drive-through events in Connellsville, Hastings and Masontown, and with deliveries in Duncansville and New Hope. The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau also delivered milk to several locations.

In New York, drive-through events were held this week in Fabius and Corinth, and additional deliveries were made in Syracuse, Long Island City and Brooklyn, totaling more than 29,000 gallons.

Milk was purchased from Clover Farms, Dairy Farmers of America, Harrisburg Dairies, Schneider's Dairy, Upstate Niagara Cooperative and H.P. Hood, with funds provided by the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP).

ADA North Eas) is the dairy farmer-funded organization funded by participating dairy farmer's checkoff investment to build demand and sales for milk and dairy foods throughout the local region. Representing more than 10,000 dairy farm families in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and northern Virginia, ADA North East develops and implements local programs to drive milk and dairy sales at retail outlets and in schools. The organization also conducts consumer education about dairy through events, traditional and social media, and in collaboration with health professionals through National Dairy Council. ADA North East works closely with Dairy Management Inc., the national dairy checkoff organization, to support nutrition research, national partnerships and developing export markets for dairy to bring a fully integrated promotion program to the region.
