Ripening Begins on Long Island Vineyards

Good week for field work: New York averaged 5.0 days suitable for field work last week.

The average weekly temperatures ranged from six degrees below normal to five degrees above normal. Weekly precipitation ranged from 0.00 to 1.74 inches. Parts of New York had a break again from rains and higher temperatures, but some other areas still experienced scattered showers throughout the week with hail reported.

The weather was beneficial for most areas with corn and soybeans. Where rain and cooler temperatures occurred; oats, barley, and hay harvest were held up.

Ripening began on many Long Island vineyards and protective bird netting was deployed.
