New York Ag News Headlines
New York Cherry Harvest Completed
New York Ag Connection - 08/22/2017

New York averaged 5.0 days suitable for fieldwork last week.

Temperatures were slightly higher on average over the prior week with a slight increase in overall precipitation. That said, many areas experienced a break in rain. The average weekly temperatures ranged from two degrees below normal to seven degrees above normal. Weekly precipitation ranged from 0.08 to 2.71.

Rain made hay, straw, and the last of oat and spring barley harvesting difficult. Many other crops were advancing well though.

Silage corn looked excellent in areas. Other crops that benefited from rains included corn and soybeans.

Cherry harvest ended and Long Island vineyards continued to apply netting for fruit protection against birds.
