New York Vegetable Harvests Underway

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New York, there were 5.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 11 percent very short, 28 percent short, 52 percent adequate, and 9 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 8 percent very short, 20 percent short, 64 percent adequate, and 8 percent surplus.

Pasture conditions ranged from 14 percent very poor, 14 percent poor, 37 percent fair, 31 percent good, and 4 percent excellent.

Cabbage, onion, potato and snap bean harvests were in the double-digits with sweet corn leading at 39 percent.

New York winter wheat harvest was 87 percent complete, while oats harvested for grain was 32 percent.
