New York Issues Consumer Alert for Improperly Pasteurized Milk

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets alerted consumers that Pasteurized Creamline chocolate milk produced by Stoltzfus Family Dairy LLC, located at 6300 Skinner Rd. Vernon Center, NY., 13477 is being voluntarily recalled due to improper pasteurization. Proper pasteurization heats milk to effectively eliminate all pathogenic bacteria, such as Listeria and Salmonella. To date, no illnesses have been reported to the Department in connection with this product.

The recalled chocolate milk was distributed in Oneida, Madison, Herkimer, Hamilton, Oswego, Cortland, Onondaga, Fulton, Otsego, Chenango, Yates, Cayuga, and Seneca Counties. The product was sold under the name Stoltzfus Family Dairy. The product was packaged in plastic 12-ounce, quart, half gallon and gallon containers bearing the container codes of: 8-16-18 and 8-24-18.

Routine inspection conducted by the Department revealed that these lots of product were improperly pasteurized. Consumers with questions about this product should contact Vern Stoltzfus at 315-796-9264.
