New York Corn and Soybean Harvests Ahead of Average

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New York, there were 3.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 0 percent very short, 0 percent short, 22 percent adequate, and 78 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 0 percent very short, 0 percent short, 54 percent adequate, and 46 percent surplus.

The apple harvest advanced to 90 percent complete, behind last year's 100 percent completion.

Cabbage harvested was 95 percent, behind the 2020 level of 99 perent complete.

Onions harvested reached 90 percent.

The potato harvest advanced only 1 percent from last week, to 82 percent. This is behind last year's pace of 100 percent complete.

The New York soybean harvest was 87 percent complete, ahead of last year and the five-year average of 84 percent and 83 percent, respectively.

Corn harvested for grain advanced 13 percent from last week, to 66 percent complete. This is ahead of last year's 59 percent and the five-year average of 60 percent.
