NYS Peach, Onion, Snap Bean, Sweet Corn Harvests Near Completion

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New York, there were 3.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 0 percent very short, 7 percent short, 80 percent adequate, and 13 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 0 percent very short, 7 percent short, 88 percent adequate, and 5 percent surplus.

Fall tillage was 39 percent complete, well behind last year's 51 percent and the 5-year average of 44 percent.

The sweet corn harvest was 90 percent, on par with last year and slightly ahead of the 5-year average of 86 percent.

Onions dry were 92 percent harvested, nearly double last year's 49 percent complete and well ahead of the 5-year average of 60 percent.

The potato harvest was 65 percent complete.

Snap beans were 91 percent complete.

The cabbage harvest was 83 percent complete, well ahead of last year's 65 percent and the 5-year average of 76 percent.

The New York peach harvest was nearing completion at 95 percent.

Apples harvested was 50-percent complete, ahead of last year's 44 percent and the 5-year average of 48 percent.

The grape harvest was reported at 34 percent complete.
