Join NRCS Local Working Groups in New York July-August

By Blake Jackson

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will host a series of Local Working Group meetings across New York from July 30 to August 29. These meetings are open to the public and encourage community involvement in shaping local conservation priorities.

Local Working Groups play a key role in identifying and discussing agricultural and natural resource concerns within communities.

Attendees may include farmers, private forest landowners, members of environmental and agricultural organizations, and representatives from governmental agencies involved in conservation efforts.

These groups serve as subcommittees to the NRCS State Technical Committee and provide input on how Farm Bill conservation programs are implemented at the local level. Their recommendations help guide the development of conservation strategies that address region-specific needs.

Community participation is essential to ensure that conservation programs are effectively tailored to local challenges. NRCS encourages those involved in agriculture, forestry, and natural resource management to attend and share their insights.

For more details about the State Technical Committee, you can reach out to Emily Armstrong at emily.armstrong@usda.gov.
