Lake Erie Wine Country will open its doors to a deeper look at winemaking and vineyard life during Behind the Vines, scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event is designed for wine enthusiasts who want to explore what happens beyond the traditional tasting-room experience. Guests can select from three curated routes, with each itinerary featuring visits to three participating wineries.
Small groups of no more than 12 people will provide an opportunity for personal conversations with winemakers, vineyard growers, and others involved in the region’s wine industry. Each winery stop will last about 90 minutes and focus on a different part of the wine production process.
Activities may include sampling wine directly from barrels, touring vineyards, learning about sparkling-wine production, and participating in blind sensory tastings. Guests can also explore how alternative winemaking materials, including concrete, can influence a wine character.
Rather than relying on formal presentations, the event emphasizes demonstrations, discussion, and hands-on discovery. Participants will gain a closer understanding of grape cultivation, cellar techniques, and wine evaluation while meeting the people who contribute to Lake Erie’s growing wine culture.
