New Agriculture Plan Aims to Boost New York Farm Economy

New Agriculture Plan Aims to Boost New York Farm Economy

By Blake Jackson

Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) has introduced her 2026 Agriculture Plan, outlining strategies to strengthen New York’s agricultural economy and improve opportunities for farmers across the state.

The plan emphasizes support for dairy and specialty crop producers, expanded market access, workforce development, and stronger partnerships between farmers and local communities.

Agriculture plays a vital role in New York’s 24th Congressional District, which is the largest agricultural district in the Northeast and one of the nation’s leading dairy-producing regions.

Tenney’s proposal focuses on creating a stable farm economy by helping producers reach new domestic and international markets while addressing challenges that affect long-term farm success.

The plan also highlights industries that are central to the district’s economy, including dairy, apples, grapes, maple syrup, and other specialty crops. In addition, it calls for greater protection of American farmland from foreign ownership, improved federal support programs, and policies designed to reduce burdens on family-owned farms.

“Farming is not just an industry in Upstate and Western New York. It is a way of life that supports our families, small businesses, and entire rural communities. Our farmers work every day to put high-quality food on our tables, yet rising costs, unfair trade practices, workforce challenges, and burdensome mandates continue to make their jobs more difficult," said Congresswoman Tenney.

"This plan puts our farmers first by opening new markets, supporting our dairy and specialty crop producers, protecting American farmland, and giving family farms the stability they need to grow and pass their operations on to the next generation.”
