Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County and New York Soil Health will host a free educational field day on October 20, 2026, at the Cornell Long Island Horticultural Research and Extension Center in Riverhead, New York.
The program, scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m., will give growers an opportunity to explore winter cover crop demonstrations and learn practical approaches to improving soil health.
Participants will take part in field-based demonstrations focused on how different soil management practices can influence soil conditions.
Representatives from New York Soil Health will also share information about ongoing research and discuss resources available to farmers interested in evaluating and strengthening the health of their soils.
The event is designed to provide useful, hands-on information for growers and agricultural professionals. Refreshments will be available during the program.
Growers who need a soil sampling kit or additional event information can contact Emily Berkowitz at el684@cornell.edu or 631-740-0268.
