The New York Wine & Grape Foundation (NYWGF) has appointed four new members to its Board of Directors, adding expertise in vineyard management, winemaking, tourism, hospitality, and agricultural sustainability.
The new board members are Shelby Hearn Ulrich, River Allan, Sasha Pardy, and Clark Simmons, each bringing unique experiences from different regions of New York’s wine industry.
Ulrich, General Manager and Partner at Suhru & Lieb Vineyards on Long Island’s North Fork, represents a third generation of wine professionals. She oversees operations, marketing, and strategic growth for the company’s certified sustainable vineyard and has previously served in leadership roles with Long Island Wine Country.
“As a longtime member, I’ve always admired the work the New York Wine & Grape Foundation does to champion our industry,” said Ulrich. “Having benefited from the Foundation’s work throughout my career, I’m excited to give back by playing a larger role in advancing its mission, strengthening connections between our regions, supporting our producers, and continuing to elevate the reputation and recognition of New York wine on both the national and international stage.”
Hudson Valley winemaker River Allan, who serves as winemaker at Rosina’s Winery and enologist for Benmarl Winery, joins the board with a background that combines scientific research and hospitality experience.
“I’m proud to call the Hudson Valley communities, both in and outside of wine, home,” said Allan. “I feel it’s essential for the Hudson River Region to have representation within the Foundation, so when our seat was vacant, I was excited to step up.”
Sasha Pardy, co-founder of Adirondack Winery and founder of the Adirondack Wine & Food Festival, brings expertise in wine tourism and consumer engagement.
“I’m honored to join the Board of Directors of the New York Wine & Grape Foundation at such an important time for our industry,” said Pardy.
Representing growers, Clark Simmons, a third-generation grape producer at Simmons Vineyards, adds practical experience in vineyard management and sustainable farming.
“As a third-generation grower, I have seen firsthand the important role the New York Wine & Grape Foundation plays in supporting the families, businesses, and communities that drive our industry,” said Simmons.
NYWGF Executive Director Sam Filler welcomed the new members, noting that their combined expertise will strengthen the Foundation’s efforts to support New York’s grape and wine industry, promote innovation, and enhance collaboration across the state.
