As part of the 2025 New York Soil Health and Climate Resiliency Field Days, American Farmland Trust (AFT) will host a Western New York Soil Health Field Day on July 16 at Zeliff Farm in Middleport, NY.
Running from 9:00 AM to 3:15 PM, the event will highlight innovative practices that support soil health and climate resilience in grazing systems.
Participants will engage in sessions covering pasture conversion techniques, soil health benchmarking, the use of biochar in grazing systems, and effective grazing management practices.
Hands-on demonstrations will also be available, featuring the New York Soil Health Trailer, drone technology applications in agriculture, and strategic cover crop integration.
Zeliff Farm, a regenerative beef farm and partner site with AFT, plays a vital role in supporting farmer outreach through on-farm research and educational learning circles.
The event offers a unique opportunity for farmers, agronomists, and conservation professionals to learn and network.
There is no fee to attend, and lunch will be provided. Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) Continuing Education Credits will be offered. Each attendee must register individually, even if attending as part of a group.
The deadline to register is July 2, 2025. For questions, contact Aaron Ristow at aristow@farmland.org or call (315) 748-5029.
