Soil Health Workshop Will Offers Practical Growing Tips

By Blake Jackson

Farmers, gardeners, and agricultural enthusiasts are invited to attend a Soil Health Field Day focused on cover crops and improving soil health in small-scale production systems.

The event will be held on August 4, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bethlehem Environmental Commons, located at 772 Route 9W, Glenmont, New York.

Organized through a partnership between the CCE Capital Area Agriculture and Horticulture Program, New York Soil Health, and Bethlehem Environmental Commons, the field day will provide participants with practical knowledge about soil improvement techniques.

Attendees will learn about cover crop benefits, proper seeding methods, application rates, and resources available for New York growers.

The hands-on session is designed to help participants develop healthier soil management practices. Lunch will be provided, and each attendee will receive oat seed to use in their own garden or growing space.

For additional information, contact Danielle Doering at 518-764-2331 or dnd39@cornell.edu.
