Apply Now for NY Wine and Grape Board Seats by May 4

By Blake Jackson

The New York Wine & Grape Foundation is inviting applications for two at-large seats on its Board of Directors, with a deadline of May 4, 2026.

Established by New York State in 1985, the nonprofit supports the state’s grape and wine industry through marketing, research, communication, and advocacy, helping ensure both immediate support and long-term growth.

Guided by its mission to promote New York’s wines and grapes and its vision of becoming a global leader in cool-climate viticulture, NYWGF operates under a 22-member board.

Directors serve three-year terms and help shape the organization’s strategic direction while representing diverse regions, business models, and professional expertise across the industry.

The foundation is particularly encouraging applicants from Long Island and the Hudson Valley to strengthen geographic representation. While candidates from all regions are welcome, maintaining balanced regional input remains a key priority as the industry continues to expand across multiple American Viticultural Areas.

Serving on the board offers a unique opportunity to influence one of New York’s most important agricultural sectors.

Board members contribute to initiatives ranging from vineyard research to statewide marketing efforts, while also connecting with a network of growers, producers, and industry leaders.

However, the role requires a meaningful commitment, including active participation in governance, committee work, and regional engagement.

Ideal candidates are passionate about the industry, experienced in collaboration and strategic thinking, and willing to dedicate time to quarterly board and committee meetings, as well as year-round activities. Board service is unpaid, though travel expenses are reimbursed.

Candidates must submit applications by May 4, 2026. After review by the Governance Committee, final selections will be made during the Board meeting on May 19, with new members beginning their terms on July 1, 2026.
