Celebrate Come Over October with New York Wines

By Blake Jackson

The New York Wine & Grape Foundation (NYWGF) is excited to participate once again in Come Over October (COO), a worldwide initiative celebrating wine’s greatest purpose: bringing people together.

Founded by Karen MacNeil, Gino Colangelo, and Kimberly Noelle Charles, Come Over October encourages people everywhere to open their homes and share a bottle of wine with family, friends, and neighbors throughout October.

What started as a simple idea wine as a connector has grown into an international movement. This year, COO’s co-creators are finalists for Wine Enthusiast’s Person of the Year, highlighting the campaign’s expanding influence.

New York is home to nearly 500 wineries, most of which are small, family-run operations. These producers craft cool-climate wines that are approachable, food-friendly, and meant to be shared. This collaborative and community-driven spirit aligns perfectly with the COO ethos.

“New York wines are meant to be shared. They’re made by families, enjoyed with food, and perfect for everyday gatherings. Come Over October reminds us that wine is really about connection, and I’m proud that New York can play such a big role in this global movement,” said Sam Filler, Executive Director of NYWGF.

How NYWGF Will Celebrate

Throughout October, NYWGF will spotlight COO across its channels, offering stories, pairing ideas, and tools to make participation easy.

Highlights include staff features sharing how they’ll celebrate, Food Pairing Guides to match New York wines with meals, and resources to explore the state’s wine regions, including an interactive map of certified sustainable vineyards.

Additional features will showcase food pairing insights from Macari Vineyards, Milea Estate Vineyards, Ryan William Vineyard, Channing Daughters, and Element Winery.

With these resources, NYWGF makes it simple for wine lovers to connect with friends and family and raise a glass to New York wines this October.
