Dairy Discovery - Hands-On Learning for Teens in 2025

New York’s annual Dairy Discovery program provides an exciting opportunity for youth aged 14 to 19 to engage in hands-on learning about dairy production and management.

Hosted by Cornell University, this interactive event is designed to introduce young participants to the science behind dairy farming, utilizing the university’s top-tier facilities and expert industry professionals.

Scheduled for March 28-29, 2025, at Frank Morrison Hall in Ithaca, NY, the program offers a comprehensive overview of key dairy industry topics.

Through a series of interactive stations, participants gain technical skills in essential areas such as dairy herd health, calf and heifer management, milk quality, whole farm planning, and feed management optimization.

These sessions provide real-world insights that are crucial for anyone interested in dairy production. The program is open to all youth who meet the age requirement as of January 1 of the event year.

While it is particularly beneficial for those involved in 4-H, FFA, or other agricultural organizations, prior experience is not required anyone with an interest in dairy farming is encouraged to attend. Parents and chaperones are also welcome to accompany participants.

With its focus on practical training and industry expertise, the Dairy Discovery program continues to inspire the next generation of dairy professionals while strengthening the future of New York’s dairy industry.
