Discover the Upper Hudson Valley’s Wine and Cider Culture

Discover the Upper Hudson Valley’s Wine and Cider Culture

By Blake Jackson

Adirondack Winery, nestled in the picturesque Lake George area of New York, has emerged as a prominent force in the state's wine scene since its founding in 2008.

Founded by Sasha and Michael Pardy, the winery has cultivated a reputation for its innovative approach to winemaking, producing a diverse portfolio of over 35 wines, ranging from classic varietals to fruit-infused creations.

Sasha Pardy, with her background in marketing and entrepreneurial spirit, has been instrumental in the winery's success.

Pardy vision led to the creation of the Adirondack Wine and Food Festival, a significant event that has drawn visitors from across the state.

The winery has played a crucial role in introducing many to the unique terroir of the Upper Hudson Valley AVA, known for its cold-hardy hybrid grapes and challenging climate.

Courtney Rankin, the winery's head winemaker, exemplifies the growing influence of female winemakers in the industry. Rankin passion for experimentation has led to a diverse range of wines, including innovative rosés and sparkling wines.

Adirondack Winery has also ventured into the world of hard cider with the launch of Extreme Heights Cidery in 2023. Utilizing New York apples, the cidery offers a variety of traditional and flavored ciders that have quickly gained popularity.

With its flagship tasting room in Lake George and an expanded facility in Queensbury, Adirondack Winery attracts thousands of visitors annually.

The winery's commitment to crafting high-quality wines that reflect the unique character of the Upper Hudson Valley has solidified its position as a key player in the evolving New York wine industry.
