According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New York, there were 6.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.
Topsoil moisture supplies were 20 percent very short, 52 percent short, 26 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 15 percent very short, 41 percent short, 44 percent adequate, and 0 percent surplus.
The condition of the state's apples was reported as 17 poor, 40 percent fair, 41 percent good and 2 percent excellent. Peaches were rated as 1 percent very poor, 12 percent poor, 62 percent fair and 25 percent good. New York pears were 8 percent poor, 72 percent fair, 15 percent good and 5 percent excellent.
Barley was rated at 4 percent poor, 17 percent fair, 28 percent good and 41 percent excellent. Meanwhile the oat crop was 4 percent poor, 39 percent fair, 32 percent good and 25 percent excellent. Corn was 7 percent poor, 31 percent fair, 34 percent good and 28 percent excellent. The soybean crop was rated as 1 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 48 percent good and 18 percent excellent.
Snap beans were reported at 67 percent fair, 24 percent good and 9 percent excellent.
