The Great New York State Fair will celebrate Beef Day on September 1, 2026, with a variety of activities designed to showcase New York’s beef industry and connect consumers with local cattle producers.

Organized in partnership with the New York Beef Council, the annual event will take place at the council’s tent near Gate 2 and at the Dairy Cattle Building.

“Beef Day is a special day at The Fair that brings everyone together to celebrate the beef industry," State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball said.

"Fairgoers can enjoy fun hands-on activities, get recipe inspiration, and connect with local farmers to learn more about the role the beef industry plays in agriculture. I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the festivities.”

“The Fair’s annual Beef Day is the perfect day for fairgoers to connect with local food producers to learn more about New York’s beef industry. There are so many fun and educational activities for everyone to enjoy. I encourage everyone to join us on this special day and celebrate the hard-working farmers who make it all possible,” Fair Director Julie LaFave said.

Now in its 31st year, Beef Day will feature educational exhibits, family-friendly activities, recipe resources, and giveaways.

Visitors can receive free cow-ear headbands while supplies last and participate in a new Beef Day Photo Contest by sharing photos on social media using the event hashtag.

Representatives from the New York Beef Council will be available throughout the day to provide cooking tips, beef facts, and recipe ideas.

The celebration will also include the popular Supreme Show in the Beef Barn, where top female cattle from county fairs across the state will compete, highlighting the achievements of New York livestock producers and agricultural youth.
