New York State Fair’s $1 Potato Booth Goes All Local

New York State Fair’s $1 Potato Booth Goes All Local

By Blake Jackson

The Great New York State Fair is adding a stronger local connection to one of its most popular traditions.

The iconic $1 Potato Booth will be operated by Tully’s Good Times in partnership with the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ New York State Grown & Certified program during the 2026 fair.

For the first time, the booth will feature potatoes grown in New York along with toppings made from New York State Grown & Certified ingredients.

NY Fresh, LLC, a vegetable farm based in Central New York, will supply the potatoes, while the butter, cheese, and sour cream will come from certified New York producers.

Despite the upgraded local sourcing, fairgoers will still be able to enjoy the famous potatoes for just $1.

The partnership arrives as the New York State Grown & Certified program celebrates its 10th anniversary, providing an opportunity to showcase the state's agricultural industry to thousands of visitors attending the fair.

“The Great New York State Fair is one of the best places to showcase the phenomenal quality of New York agriculture, and this year’s Potato Booth is a perfect example," New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball said.

"We’re proud to highlight our local farmers and food producers across The New York State Fair and having locally grown potatoes and locally made toppings is extra special because we’re also celebrating the 10th anniversary of NYS Grown & Certified this year. From the potatoes to the butter and sour cream, each bite supports New York agriculture while giving fairgoers the delicious tradition they’ve loved for years.”

“The Potato Booth is one of the Fair’s most iconic offerings, and we’re excited to make this longtime favorite even more of a New York success story," Fair Director Julie LaFave said.

"Thanks to our partnership with Tully’s and the Department’s New York State Grown & Certified program, fairgoers can enjoy the same incredible value while knowing the main ingredients come from right here in New York State.”

A longtime fixture inside the Horticulture Building, the Potato Booth serves tens of thousands of customers annually. During the 2025 fair, more than 70,000 potatoes were sold, with daily demand exceeding 7,000 customers.

Renamed the “New York State Fair Potato Booth Operated by Tully’s Good Times,” the stand will continue offering classic baked potatoes and Syracuse-style salt potatoes, along with additional menu items created by Tully’s culinary team.
