NYS Tart Cherry Harvest 65 Percent Complete



According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New York, there were 6.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 14 percent very short, 43 percent short, 40 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 5 percent very short, 24 percent short, 71 percent adequate, and 0 percent surplus.

Barley harvested for grain reached 21 percent complete. Winter wheat harvested for grain was reported at 9 percent complete.

Oats headed was 79 percent.

Second cutting of alfalfa hay was 62 percent complete, while first cutting of other hay was inching towards completion at 93 percent.

Cabbage planted was 83 percent and snap beans planted reached 76 percent. Sweet corn planted was 93 percent complete.

Tart cherries harvested was 65 percent complete.
