NYS Winter Wheat Planting, Potato Harvest Complete



According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New York, there were 4.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 13 percent very short, 10 percent short, 70 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 13 percent very short, 10 percent short, 73 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus.

Fall tillage was 90 percent complete compared to the 5-year average of 81 percent.

Corn harvested for grain, at 79 percent, was well-ahead of the 5-year average of 59 percent.

The soybean harvest is nearing completion at 95 percent compared to 82 percent average.

Winter wheat was 98 percent complete with emergence reported at 92 percent, well ahead of the 5-year average of 84 percent/

The potato harvest is virtually completed at 99 percent reported this past week.
