The 26th Annual Orange County 4-H Calf & Livestock Sale is transforming! This year's event, held on May 11th at the Education Center & 4-H Park in Otisville, New York, expands beyond dairy heifers to include a wider range of livestock. Attendees can expect a live animal auction featuring sheep, goats, pigs, turkeys, chickens, and rabbits alongside dairy cattle.
This fundraiser supports the Orange County 4-H program, offering educational experiences and opportunities for its members. These include educational contests, workshops, project meetings, and trips – all designed to cultivate leadership skills, community service, and agricultural knowledge. Parents, volunteers, and businesses all play a crucial role in making this event a success.
The sale also fosters a space for local farmers and businesses to connect, discuss agricultural practices, and promote their work.
The organizers are actively seeking animal consignments, including registered or non-registered dairy and beef cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, turkeys, chickens, and rabbits. To be included, submissions must be received by March 15th, 2024.
Cornell Cooperative Extension, a partner in this event, provides educational programs across various areas including youth development, nutrition, community development, and agricultural sustainability. Their mission is to empower Orange County residents through research-based programs that address local needs.
