PRO-DAIRY Awards Recognize Leaders at NY State Fair 2025

By Blake Jackson

Marty Young of Whey Street Dairy and Dave Grusenmeyer of the New York Farm Viability Institute were honored with PRO-DAIRY Agriservice Awards at the Great New York State Fair.

The recognition was presented on August 28 by Cornell CALS PRO-DAIRY Director Thomas Overton and New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball during the Dairy Day Recognition and Awards Ceremony.

The awards acknowledge individuals who have made significant contributions to New York agriculture by supporting PRO-DAIRY’s mission.

“This year’s recipients, a farmer and an agriservice professional, join a distinguished list of award winners who are chosen for their close involvement and collaborative partnership with the many of the applied research and educational programs in PRO-DAIRY,” said Overton.

“We appreciate and respect their leadership and service to PRO-DAIRY and the broader agriculture industry. They are examples of the best of what the New York dairy industry has to offer.”

Young has consistently opened Whey Street Dairy to PRO-DAIRY initiatives, ranging from youth engagement and student programs to business planning, applied research, and industry training. “It is dairy producers like Marty Young who make it a privilege for our PRO-DAIRY staff to work with the New York dairy industry,” Overton noted.

Grusenmeyer has demonstrated strong leadership with NYFVI, guiding efforts that have advanced dairy and agricultural development across the state. “Dave Grusenmeyer has been a staunch advocate for industry programs, including PRO-DAIRY,” Overton added.
