By Blake Jackson

Spring has sprung in New York's wine country, and wineries across the state are celebrating with a diverse array of events. After a long winter, wine enthusiasts can welcome the warmer weather with new releases, food pairings, and unique experiences.

At Dr. Frank Winery in Hammondsport, the Chateau Frank sparkling wine house is hosting the Feast of the Ides of March on March 15-16. This two-day event features food and wine pairings inspired by Shakespeare, with offerings like Meat Pie and Cabernet Franc and Roasted Lamb with Lena Reserve.

Anthony Road Wine Company in Penn Yan is hosting a friendly "food fight" on March 29th, where winemaker Peter Becraft and Billsboro vintner Vinny Aliperti will compete for the best wine pairing with a three-course meal prepared by Chef Brud Holland.

The Seneca Lake Wine Trail is celebrating spring with a three-day Wine and Cheese event from April 11-13. Guests can enjoy a self-guided tour of wineries around Seneca Lake, with each stop offering cheese-themed dishes paired with local wines.

Wölffer Estate Vineyard is celebrating the 2024 vintage with a Dream Harvest Lunch on March 1st. Guests can enjoy a seasonal lunch in the wine cellar, paired with tank and barrel samples from the 2024 vintage, presented by winemaker Roman Roth.

Milea Estate Vineyard is hosting a Spring Wine Club Party on March 14-15 at their estate in Staatsburg. Guests can enjoy new releases, seasonal bites, and live music.

Fox Run Vineyards is welcoming spring with a traditional Burning of the Canes on March 15th. This ancient tradition involves burning the pruned canes from the vineyard, and guests can enjoy food, wine, and live music.

Hunt Country Vineyards in Branchport is offering Latin Dance Aerobics Classes with World Champion Dancer Michelle Madore on four Thursdays in March and April.

McCall Wines in Cutchogue is kicking off its seasonal burger nights on May 15th, offering estate-raised grassfed Charolais beef burgers paired with their award-winning wines.

These are just a few of the many exciting events happening in New York wine country this spring. With so much to offer, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
