NEW YORK STATE WEATHER

Theory of a Deadman at Great New York State Fair

As Theory of a Deadman experiences new life this year with the release of a brand new album, the Canadian rockers are excited to share their new chapter with concertgoers at the Great New York State Fair. The band will bring their signature "riff rock" sound to the Experience Stage at Chevy Park Aug. 24 at 8 p.m.

The multiplatinum band, best known for "RX (Medicine)," "Bad Girlfriend," "Not Meant to Be," and other hits, will release their eighth studio album, Dinosaur, through Roadrunner Records, on March 17. Dinosaur resurrects the rock music that launched the band onto the music scene in 2002, while infusing new energy, as evidenced in the anthemic title track "Dinosaur" that is currently heard on Active Rock radio stations nationwide.

"The Great New York State Fair is known for delivering a high-quality music experience," said Interim Fair Director Sean Hennessey. "When it comes to concerts, we pride ourselves in striving to offer something to satisfy every musical taste. Theory of a Deadman was selected with our rock and alternative music fans in mind."

The Aug. 24 appearance will be Theory of a Deadman's third performance at the Great New York State Fair. They played to Chevy Court audiences in 2012 and 2019.

The 2023 Fair begins Aug. 23, and continues through Sept. 4. The Chevrolet Music Series schedule will feature daily 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. performances at Chevy Court (located near Gate 1), and 8 p.m. performances at the Chevy Park Experience Stage (located at the rear of the Fairgrounds). On select days, there will be 2 p.m. performances at the Experience Stage. As always, all concerts in the Chevrolet Music Series are free with Fair admission.

Last week, the Fair officials announced that Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line would perform on Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. on the Experience Stage at Chevy Park. There will be more concert announcements in the coming days and weeks. As concerts are announced, Fair staff will update schedules on the Fair's website at pages dedicated to Chevy Park and Chevy Court.

Founded in 1841, the Great New York State Fair showcases the best of New York agriculture, provides top-quality entertainment and is a key piece of the state's CNY Rising strategy of growing the Central New York economy through tourism. It is the oldest fair in the United States, and is consistently recognized as being among the top five state fairs in the nation.

The New York State Fairgrounds is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates all year. Audiences are encouraged to learn more about the Great New York State Fair online, and follow the fun on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Guests are invited to see photos from the Fair on Flickr and ideas are always welcome. New Yorkers are encouraged to send suggestions via email to statefairideas@agriculture.ny.gov.
