NY cannabis farmers suffering in slow market rollout

NY cannabis farmers suffering in slow market rollout

By Blake Jackson

A recent survey by the Cannabis Farmers Alliance found that many farmers in New York State are facing financial hardship and personal struggles due to the slow rollout of the state's legal cannabis marketplace.

More than 30 small farmers responded to the survey, with many reporting that they are on the verge of financial ruin, experiencing declining mental health, and facing strained personal relationships.

One respondent stated that they had exhausted their body to the point of not being able to recover physically, while another said that their family life had been ruined due to their involvement in the industry.

The survey results were sent to state senators and shared with a cannabis industry publication. The CFA is urging the state to take action to support farmers who are struggling in the current market.

Overall, the survey highlights the challenges that farmers are facing in the new legal cannabis market. The CFA is calling for more support for farmers to help them weather the storm and become successful in this new industry.
