Agroforestry Field Tour Set at Cornell Student Farm

Agroforestry Field Tour Set at Cornell Student Farm

By Blake Jackson

The Dilmun Hill Student Farm at Cornell University will host a special field tour highlighting its expanding agroforestry projects on September 26, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The free, public event invites community members to explore unique specialty crops while enjoying an evening of learning, tasting, and social connection.

Participants will tour the farm’s thriving pawpaw orchard, honeyberry plantings, and log-grown mushroom projects. Along the way, they will have the opportunity to sample fresh produce while hearing insights from guest speakers representing Cornell Cooperative Extension, the Cornell Small Farms Program, and a local berry grower and nursery.

The program aims to showcase how agroforestry can diversify farm operations and provide new opportunities for both growers and communities.

Attendees will learn directly from experts and practitioners about cultivation methods, market potential, and the environmental benefits of these emerging crops.

Following the farm walk and presentations, guests are encouraged to stay for a community social, offering a chance to connect with fellow attendees and continue conversations sparked during the tour.

The event will take place at Dilmun Hill Student Farm, 705 Dryden Road (Rt. 366), Ithaca, NY 14853. For more details, contact Ryan Maher at rmm325@cornell.edu.
