The Cornell Equine Hospital, in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension, will continue its Equine Seminar Series with another insightful virtual session this November.
These monthly online seminars feature leading equine specialists discussing key topics in horse health and management, offering valuable information for horse owners, veterinarians, and equine enthusiasts.
The upcoming session, titled “Help! My Vet Heard Irregular Heartbeats: What Does that Mean?”, will take place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The featured speaker, Dr. Katharyn Mitchell, BVSc, PhD, Dip ACVIM (LAIM), from the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Clinical Sciences, will lead the discussion.
Dr. Mitchell’s presentation will focus on irregular heart rhythms in horses, also known as arrhythmias. She will explain the common causes of these irregularities, when further investigation is necessary, and how they may affect a horse’s performance and safety, particularly during exercise. The session will also highlight available treatment options for managing arrhythmias effectively.
Participants are encouraged to join the seminar virtually to gain practical insights from one of Cornell’s equine medicine experts. For more information, contact Vanessa Maley at cuvetce@cornell.edu or 607-227-5891.
