Over 100 dairy industry experts convened in East Syracuse, NY, for the annual Herd Health and Nutrition Conference. This event, co-hosted by Cornell CALS PRO-DAIRY and the Northeast Agribusiness and Feed Alliance (NEAFA), provided a platform for attendees to learn about the latest research and trends in dairy herd health and nutrition.
Dairy producers, nutritionists, veterinarians, and other industry professionals gained valuable insights on topics like:
- Efficient on-farm feeding and health monitoring practices
- The impact of in-utero heat stress on calves
- Sustainable forage management strategies
- Dairy cattle nutrition and feed management for a reduced environmental footprint
A panel discussion featuring university faculty, government representatives, and dairy farmers explored these issues further.
"The conference is a great venue for networking and staying up to date on the latest research," said Jenny Mills, President of NEAFA. "The ability to connect with various stakeholders in the agricultural supply chain is invaluable."
This successful conference, now in its 20th year, highlights the ongoing collaboration between PRO-DAIRY and NEAFA in supporting the Northeast dairy industry. The next Herd Health and Nutrition Conference is scheduled for April 2025.
