According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New York, there were 6.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.
Topsoil moisture supplies were 21 percent very short, 39 percent short, 38 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 17 percent very short, 33 percent short, 50 percent adequate, and 0 percent surplus.
The state's apple crop was 2 percent excellent, 40 percent good, 42 percent fair and 16 percent poor. Pears rated 5 percent excellent, 14 percent good, 73 percent fair and 8 percent poor. New York peaches rated 23 percent good, 64 percent fair, 12 percent poor and 1 percent very poor.
Snap beans were 2 percent poor, 70 percent fair, 19 percent good and 9 percent excellent.
The corn crop was 2 percent very good, 7 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 34 percent good and 28 percent excellent, while soybeans were 5 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 26 percent fair, 38 percent good and 25 percent excellent.
New York pastures were 10 percent very poor, 32 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 26 percent good and 4 percent excellent.
