New York State Fair a Grand Celebration of Agriculture

New York State Fair a Grand Celebration of Agriculture

The Great New York State Fair boasts a remarkable history, dating back to its founding in 1841, making it the oldest state fair in the nation. Recently ranked as the Fifth Best state fair in the U.S., it consistently maintains its position as one of the top fairs in the country. What sets it apart even further is its affordability, with just a $6 admission fee for adults – children and senior citizens enjoy free entry. Adding to its charm, parking costs $10 per vehicle, or visitors can opt for the Centro Bus service at $1 per person, making it an inexpensive outing for families.

A family of six, comprising two grandparents aged 65 and older, two adults, and two children aged 12 and under, can access the fairgrounds for only $12. This economical entry fee provides access to a wide array of world-class entertainment, exhibitions, and programs. From agriculture-themed attractions to educational exhibits and cultural displays, the fair offers something for everyone's interests. Moreover, fairgoers are delighted to find that once they're inside, there are countless free, family-friendly activities to enjoy.

The fair's entertainment lineup is truly impressive, featuring the Chevrolet Music Series that brings in 48 national recording artists across the 13-day duration of the fair. This includes genres spanning from household names to up-and-coming talents, and even family-friendly performances such as Peppa Pig Live and Disney Junior's Costume Palooza. These shows are all included in the price of admission.

For those seeking to explore agriculture and education, the fair provides an abundance of opportunities. Visitors can interact with animals in eight different barns and animal tents, engage in horse shows showcasing majestic animals' skills, and learn about various careers in fields like farming, veterinary science, food and beverage services, emergency management, and event planning. An engaging Youth Building exhibit allows children and teens to demonstrate their talents, and there's even a chance to witness the birth of calves in the Dairy Cow Birthing Center, which is marking its 10th Anniversary this year.

Moreover, the fair goes beyond entertainment and education to celebrate diversity. It introduces distinct cultural villages such as Asian Village, Latino Village, Pan African Village, and Indian Village, offering fairgoers the opportunity to experience the rich heritage of different communities. These villages feature traditional cuisine, music, dance, and more, providing a unique and immersive cultural experience.

Lastly, the fair's iconic Midway, managed by Wade Shows, boasts more than 60 rides to captivate fairgoers of all ages. With new rides like the Double Deck Carousel and the Borazon Wave Swinger, along with refurbished classics, the Midway offers an exciting escape for thrill-seekers.

As the fair gears up for another year of celebration, it remains a testament to New York's rich agricultural history and vibrant cultural tapestry. With its impressive entertainment lineup, educational opportunities, and diverse cultural experiences, the Great New York State Fair continues to uphold its legacy as a must-visit event for people of all ages.
