Governor Kathy Hochul announced the opening of the Great New York State Fair, highlighting new initiatives, special events, and completed improvement projects. The Fair will run from August 21st to September 2nd, 2024.

Celebrating New York Parks and Agriculture

This year's Fair focuses heavily on showcasing New York's vibrant agricultural industry. Visitors can expect expanded agricultural competitions, popular flower shows, and interactive animal exhibits, including cuddling baby goats.

The Fairgrounds boasts a dedicated State Park at the Fair with picnic areas, a reflecting pool, and a visitor center. August 22nd is designated as "State Parks Day" offering free admission to fairgoers with specific park passes.

Focus on Women in Agriculture

On Women's Day, August 28th, the Fair will honor ten women who have significantly impacted agriculture through research, sustainability efforts, leadership, and more.

The Fair is also participating in the County Fair Passport program, encouraging families to visit multiple fairs across the state.

Enhanced Accessibility

This year, the Fair prioritizes inclusivity with the opening of a new sensory room offering a calming environment for visitors with sensory sensitivities.

Additionally, a sensory-friendly day is scheduled for August 27th, featuring modified lighting and sound levels on the Midway.

Entertainment and Exhibits Galore

The Fair boasts an exceptional entertainment lineup, featuring a mix of returning favorites and exciting new shows.

Visitors can expect 39 national recording acts across various genres, including family-friendly options like Kidz Bop. International sensations like Flo Rida and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are also on the schedule.

Syracuse was chosen as one of 15 cities to host Navy Week. As part of the celebration, the Fair will host the Navy Band and offer tours of the U.S.S Nimitz Exhibit. The Fair's Midway will also feature new rides, games, and attractions.

Modernization Efforts

The Fair has undergone modernization efforts, including upgraded Wi-Fi infrastructure for better connectivity, a complete rebuild of Basilio's restaurant, and landscaping improvements throughout the grounds.

The Great New York State Fair offers something for everyone, from agricultural exhibits and delicious food to world-class entertainment and educational experiences. Admission, parking, and Midway tickets can be purchased online.
