The Great New York State Fair is featuring a first-of-its-kind "Voice of the Farmer" garden this year. The garden, which is located near the Expo Center, features over 50 types of plants grown by New York farmers.
The garden is a project of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Onondaga County. The Extension began growing the garden beds in June in preparation for the fair. The exhibit also features a wading pool of corn, which facilitates a scavenger hunt, and QR codes for learning more about farming.
The garden is a great way to learn about the diversity of crops grown in New York State. It is also a great way to meet New York farmers and learn about their work.
The "Voice of the Farmer" garden is a part of the Farm Journal's "New York State Fair Farm Garden" program. The program is also planning gardens in New Mexico later this year and in other states in 2024.
If you are visiting the Great New York State Fair this year, be sure to check out the "Voice of the Farmer" garden. It is a great way to learn about New York agriculture and meet New York farmers.
