Farmers, educators, and ag professionals are invited to attend a hands-on evening of learning and networking at Grindstone Farm in Pulaski, New York, on June 24, 2025.
Part of the 2025 New York Soil Health & Climate Resiliency Field Days series, this event will focus on improving soil health in diversified organic vegetable systems.
Running from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., with dinner and networking to follow, the field day will feature farmer-led discussions and expert insights into practical techniques like cover cropping and tarping.
Attendees will hear directly from local growers and Cornell Cooperative Extension specialists, offering a valuable exchange of knowledge and experience.
The event kicks off with registration and a welcome by Joshua Vrooman of CCE Oswego. A guided tour of Grindstone Farm will follow, led by hosts Anna Joy and Dick DeGraff.
The Cornell Soil Health Trailer will be on-site, with demonstrations by Joseph Amsili and Michael Glos of the New York Soil Health Team.
Crystal Stewart, a vegetable specialist with the Eastern NY Commercial Horticulture Team, will present strategies for managing cover crops and tarps in mixed vegetable systems. A farmer panel discussion will wrap up the main program before dinner is served.
This event will be held at 780 County Route 28, Pulaski, NY. All are welcome to join for an evening of education, collaboration, and great food.
