Taste NY Celebrates 10 Years of Supporting New York Farmers and Food Producers

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball marked the 10th anniversary of Taste NY, New York's renowned 'eat local, drink local' program, with an open house event at the Mohawk Valley Welcome Center. This celebration highlighted the program's remarkable achievements over the past decade, including generating over $100 million in economic impact for local producers. Since its inception in 2013, Taste NY has expanded to nearly 70 locations across the state, showcasing the diverse and exceptional products of over 150 farmers and food and beverage producers.

The Mohawk Valley Welcome Center, operated by Liberty ARC, has played a significant role in the success of Taste NY, with sales totaling $528,441 since its opening in 2017. The center provides a platform for farmers and producers to promote their goods, enhancing regional agricultural and tourism sectors. Through partnerships with various venues and events, such as sports arenas and major championships, Taste NY has continued to boost exposure for local products, with recent highlights at the 2023 PGA Championship.

At the open house event, visitors had the opportunity to sample products from local vendors, experiencing the rich flavors and quality craftsmanship of New York's offerings. The event also underscored the inclusive hiring practices implemented at the Mohawk Valley Welcome Center, which provides employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Taste NY's 10th anniversary celebration will continue with a series of events statewide, aiming to further support and promote local producers. The program's success lies in its commitment to showcasing the state's agricultural diversity, fostering economic growth, and creating connections between producers and consumers. As Taste NY enters its next decade, it remains dedicated to cultivating a vibrant local food and beverage industry that showcases the best of what New York has to offer.
